Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Westeros Codex ("we", "us", "the Site"), operating at gameofthrones.uk, handles information when you visit. We keep things simple: we do not run user accounts, we do not ask you to register, and we do not directly collect or sell personal information. We do, however, use third-party services β Google AdSense and Google Analytics β that set cookies and collect usage data, as described below.
1. Information we collect
The Site itself does not require or store names, email addresses, or payment details. Information is collected automatically by the third-party services we use:
- Usage & device data via Google Analytics β pages viewed, approximate location (country/region), browser and device type, referring site, and time on page.
- Advertising data via Google AdSense β used to select and measure the ads shown to you.
If you email us through the contact page, we receive whatever you choose to send (your email address and message) and use it only to reply.
2. Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. We and our partners use them to remember preferences, understand how the Site is used, and serve relevant advertising. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling them will not break the Site, though some advertising may become less relevant. The main categories used here are:
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) to measure traffic.
- Advertising cookies (Google AdSense and its partners) to personalise and frequency-cap ads.
3. Google AdSense & advertising
This Site displays ads served by Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-8643026289824701). To do this:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu.
For more on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
4. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics (measurement ID G-ZRJR6F1N3B) to understand aggregate, anonymised traffic patterns so we can improve the Site. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data as described in Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out across all sites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. Consent (EEA, UK & California)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or other regions requiring consent, advertising and analytics cookies are governed by the consent choices presented to you (where applicable, via Google's consent management). Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) you may opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; the opt-out links in Section 3 cover personalised advertising. To exercise any right, email us via the contact page.
6. Children
This Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Data retention & security
Because we do not operate our own database of visitor data, retention is governed by the third-party services above. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to respond.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
